Trip To FijiFor the nature enthusiast, there may be no other place in the world like the home of Maravu Plantation Resort, the island of Taveuni. Among Fiji's 300-plus islands, Taveuni is exceptionally rare. Thanks to a unique topography and an island-wide absence of the Mongoose, every plant, flower, and even animal native to Fiji flourishes on Taveuni.
Taveuni is home to the rarest of creatures, the Fiji fruit bat and the Taveuni silktail bird. She is also home to the Tagimaucia flower, the inspiration for many folk tales. This mysterious and beautiful flower blooms red and white and is reportedly found only on the island of Taveuni, around the shores of Lake Tagimaucia. We take every interested and curious Maravu Plantation Resort guest on a guided walk to this legendary spot to view the famous and legendary flower and take a romantic swim in the crystal-clear Tagimaucia waters.
Taveuni is so pristine in its environment that new species of palms continue to be discovered and cataloged. The island is home to not one, but two nature preserves which protect these rare and beautiful creatures. Both are open to the public and make for some of the most extraordinary nature walks you may ever enjoy. We include in every guest itinerary the option of enjoying a hike to famous Bouma Falls, located in its own national heritage environmental park and only a short distance from the entrance to the Ravilevu Nature Reserve.
We are privileged and honored to call this magical paradise our home. We invite you to call it yours, too, on your next Fijian vacation. From all of us at Maravu Plantation Resort, we say, Bula!
