Fiji Island Resort VacationMaravu Plantation Resort is the ideal spot for the vacationer wanting to experience true Fiji culture. Maravu Plantation Resort is located on the island of Taveuni, one of the least-explored islands in Fiji's archipelago. This means that Taveuni is that contemporary rarity: a truly undiscovered gem.
Though we're a full-service luxury resort, complete with on-site restaurant, entertainment, and adventure activities, we are a part of our thriving Fijian village. Guests are invited to take part in as much local culture as they desire. On the property, we offer storytelling, ceremonial events, local musicians, and explanations and involvement in multiple local rituals, like the Kava ceremony and the traditional Lovo feast.
Off the property, we can introduce you to village culture. Nearby Qeleni village is a fascinating and welcoming place for those interested in eco-tourism. Guests are invited to visit local schools and handicraft boutiques. Located in the highlands, Qeleni is an extraordinary opportunity for the visitor who wants to meet people other than just tourists.
If you're interested in going to church, Taveuni-style, we are happy to help you with that, too. The Wairiki Catholic church was built in 1907, and mass is held faithfully there each Sunday. Guests are invited to attend and take part in this sacred tradition, complete with Fijian interpretation; here, mass takes place on the floor, not in pews.
If you are interested in learning more about the real Taveuni, we would be honored to be your guides. Thank you for your interest in our culture. From all of us here at Maravu, Bula!
